The museum houses a small longobard necropolis coming from the Longobards\u2019 settlement on the Rocca hill of Monselice, where was the Mastio Federiciano built.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>The Longobards, a Germanic folk originally from Scandinavia, conquered Monselice in 602 and seized the ancient Byzantine Fortifications under their king Agilulf, as it is written in Paul the Deacon\u2019s \u201cHistoria Longobardorum\u201d (History of the Longobards): \u201c\u2026 Langobardi castrum Montis Silicis invaserunt\u2026\u201d (The Longobards invaded the stronghold of Monselice).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"lRu31\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The necropolis, which can be dated to the first half of the 7th century, is made up of 5 tombs with 7 bodies of Longobar warriors and children and their funerary equipment. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div class=\"lRu31\">\n<p>The rich funeral ornaments are represented by a spatha (long sword), a scamasax (dagger), some small knives, an umbo (central boss on a shield) and personal objects as bone combs, silver and metal buckles, belt hanging parts.
